Description

This is the waterbending display on one fourth of the pai sho table. The kanji read from top right to bottom left, "The original water bender - The Moon"

The moon is depicted above a spray of waves, pulling the water gently. To the right, wolves, the sacred animal of the water nation are shown howling at the moon. To the left, waterbenders are shown practicing waterbending, an art of fluid and graceful defense, offence and healing equated with tai chi. The pendant under the wave shows the ancient symbol for the element water.

I've been re-watching A:TLAB series and became interested in playing Pai Sho; while looking into boards and rules I came across your work.

I have to say that this is such incredible work! I love the idea of making a board on top of a large round wooden "box"(?). Even more wonderful are the lovely images you created all around it. They look so cannon but are still so unique. I am impressed with how this table looks like it could have been plucked from the show and the images have the same feel as the art found on scrolls and such throughout the series. I was wondering if the images were carved, engraved or did you use wood burning? It looks very similar to wood burning but I was curious because I was thinking of using that method for creating my own Pai Sho pieces. Thanks for sharing your work. It's very inspiring!
